USPS Package Intercept®

How It Works

Items are intercepted at the initial destination delivery unit and redirected at the request of the mailer. USPS Package Intercept® service is not a guaranteed service. USPS does not refund the Package Intercept fee, as it is not charged until the package is successfully intercepted. When customers submit a Package Intercept request on-line, they will be provided with an estimated total (intercept fee plus estimated Priority Mail® postage). The Postal Service will attempt to intercept and redirect the shipment, but does not guarantee that it will be able to do so. If the package is successfully intercepted, in most cases, the customer's credit card will be charged a non-refundable intercept fee along with the actual Priority Mail postage for redirecting the package. However, if the actual postage due is greater than the estimated postage, only the intercept fee will be charged to your credit card and the actual postage will be collected upon delivery (or pickup). Also, if a redirected shipment is being redirected to the sender and was originally sent using Priority Mail Express®, Priority Mail® or First-Class Mail® service, only the $12.15 fee will be charged to your credit card.

First, verify that your item is eligible for USPS Package Intercept service. If your item hasn't been delivered or released for delivery, you can request USPS Package Intercept service.

Registered USPS.com customers can request the service by submitting their request at USPS.com. A credit card is required for payment of the USPS Package Intercept fee and, in most cases, the Priority Mail® postage for redirecting the package (if applicable). However, if the actual postage exceeds the estimated postage quoted at the time of the request, only the intercept fee will be charged to the credit card and any applicable postage for redirecting the intercepted item to a different location will be collected at the time of delivery (or pickup). If a redirected shipment is being redirected to the sender and was originally sent using Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail or First-Class Mail service, only the $12.15 fee will be charged to your credit card.
